"Serve the Lord with Gladness, Come before Him with singing" Psalms 100:2
We are a traditional male quartet from Columbia SC which is based out of Temple Baptist Church. We have been together since August 2001. We first started out as “The New Life Quartet” and later changed our name to "Gabriel’s Call".
We feel that it was in God’s perfect plan that this group was formed. You see the original members sang in our church choir. Well our Minister of Music, Howard Joye, picked the four of us to try a song that needed four men to sing in a four part harmony in our Christmas Cantata. We gave it a try and with some practice we ended up performing it in the cantata. We were encouraged by several people to “work-up” another song to sing in church one day. Well...We did and we liked what we heard and have been together ever since.
We have been blessed to have sung in many churches as well as other gatherings and festivals over the past few years. We were honored to open a local concert for “Jeff & Sheri Easter” in November 2003. Probably our biggest blessing...(and shock) came in April 2004 when we were introduced...(by a fan) to a festival entitled "Singing in the Sun", which includes four nights of concerts by several national Southern Gospel groups that we admire such as Gold City, Signature Sound, The Booth Brothers, The Mark Trammell Trio, The Hoppers, The Greene’s, and many others. They had a talent contest and we decided on a whim to enter it, figuring the least we would get was some constructive criticism from the judges score sheets. There were 17 groups entered and each group performed one song. After we all had sung, there was a four way tie. So the four groups were asked to sing one more song. We were then awarded 1st Place winners... much to our surprise! Part of our winnings was that we got to return that night and open the main concert with one song on the “Big Stage” in front of 4000 people. WOW...what a blessing that was! We still can’t believe it!!
In December 2004 we had a personnel change to our group. Ron Gibbs of Grovetown Ga. replaced our baritone singer and has done a great job. Ron has been involved with several groups in the GA/SC area over years. He is also an accomplished songwriter and we have included two of his songs on our latest project, "What A Day". We are very excited about having Ron with with us.
We are available to sing at morning and evening church services, revivals, homecomings, special events, etc... We have our own complete sound system so no additional equipment is required. Please feel free to contact us if you would like to compliment any church service or event. Just go to the “Contact Us” page, email us, and we will contact you within 24 hours.
